Treatment of Hyperprolactinaemia	

Patients with hyperprolactinaemia and small pituitary tumours may be treated either by surgery, using the transsphenoidal approach, or medically, with dopamine- agonist drugs. For microadenomas, the results, in the hands of most experienced surgeons, are similar. 
(In this discussion, the relative advantages of medical therapy and surgery will not be dealt with; the emphasis, reflecting the authors' expertise, will be on medical therapy.)
